Sunrise Christian Reformed Church began in 1995, when a small group of believers in Lafayette, Indiana felt called to start a new congregation centered on worship, community, and service. Those first gatherings took place in the cafeteria of Amelia Earhart Elementary School on South Ninth Street, guided by faith and a shared desire to grow in Christ together.
After months of planning and prayer, the church held its Grand Opening on Easter Sunday, April 7, 1996, marking the official beginning of what would become a thriving community of faith.
As the congregation grew, Sunrise officially became part of the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA), embracing the Reformed tradition while remaining open and accessible to people from all walks of life.
