The leadership at Sunrise includes paid and volunteer members who come from different backgrounds and circumstances, but who are all committed to the vision of Sunrise.
Bob Lyzenga
Pastor
Pastor Bob is originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he was in business for ten years before going into full-time ministry. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Calvin College and his Masters of Divinity from Calvin Theological Seminary. Pastor Bob served for eight years as pastor of New Life Church in Houston, Texas, before coming to Sunrise in 2002. Pastor Bob and his wife, Sue, have been married for more than 30 years and have three children: Michelle, David, and Paul.

Julie Brouwer
Office Administrator
Julie was hired as the Office Administrator at Sunrise in September of 2011. She graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2011 with Bachelors degrees in Business and Sociology, and a concentration in Human Resources. Julie enjoys connecting with people and using her organizational skills. She is thankful to have a job that she is passionate about and fits with her gifts and abilities. Julie and her husband, Matthew, were married in 2011. They feel so blessed by the welcome they received here at Sunrise, and the opportunity to be involved in a church family.

Jean Dahnke
Children’s Ministry Director
Jean leads our “Kids Connect” children’s ministry for children ages 4 through grade 5, and serves as consultant to the Children’s Worship Coordinator, and Kids’ Hope Director. She enjoys exploring new ideas to help leaders promote teaching Biblical truths in creative and innovative ways. Jean graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in education and music from Bemidji State University, Bemidji, Minnesota. She also enjoys music, and teaches piano and voice students. She recently joined the Kids’ Hope program serving as a mentor, and highly values one-on-one time building relationships with others. Jean has been blessed to have Jerry as her husband for 30 years. They have two children, and two wonderful grandsons!

Mike O'Shaughnessey
Youth Director
Mike is originally from Elk Rapids, Michigan. He attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he studied Youth Ministry and Communications. Mike and his wife, Laura, were married in 2010 and have since settled in Lafayette. Recognizing that God has placed this ministry on his heart, Mike considers the opportunity to fully invest in today's youth a great blessing. Mike and Laura stand in awe of how God has walked them through life, and are excited to see His plans for them through Sunrise Church. Grace and Peace!

Cathy Vyn
Kids Hope USA Director
Cathy Vyn has a long standing passion for the welfare of children, manifested in her love for parenting, for providing daycare, for tutoring, for leading children in worship and for mentoring. She is currently serving Sunrise part-time as the Director of the Kids Hope USA partnership between Sunrise and Woodland Elementary School of Lafayette. She also works as an educational assistant at Wea Ridge Elementary school, and volunteers as the Children's Worship Coordinator at Sunrise Church. She and her husband, Tony, have been married for 37 years and are proud parents of four adult children and seven dear grandchildren (none of whom live in Indiana). Cathy has been a member of Sunrise CRC since 1998, and was previously a member of the Guelph CRC in Ontario, Canada.
